The first size consideration to make when designing a bathroom is the entry and the amount of clear space required.

The minimum depth for a partition stall is 48 inches but the depth can be as much as 78 inches if necessary. You want to make sure you are measuring exactly where the partitions will be placed because bathrooms are not always exactly square. The location of the door is in front of the clear space and diagonal to the water closet with a maximum stile width of 4 inches 100 mm. Generally stall doors open inward but for ada accessible stalls the doors should open outward to make it easier for those with accessibility.

However stall depth can be anywhere between 48 inches to 78 inches as needed. The minimum width of the stall is 60 inches 1525 mm. To satisfy ada requirements all newly constructed square restroom stalls must have doors that swing outward with no more than four inches from the diagonal corner to the toilet.
